(c) Done.

(d) Explain what you completed.
I had originally planned to do a documentary, following the stories of a couple people, their experiences at a hospital or clinic, their treatments, and what happened that made them satisfied or not with their care. I realized that this would give me too broad a range of information and decided to narrow it down. I looked at my second answer and decided to focus only on that. I researched all about how the environment affects the mood and satisfaction of a patient, as well as more in depth to the parts of the environment that cause effect. I researched and composed all of my findings into a powerpoint.

Interpretive

What I did for the component was research in depthly, my second answer, and present my findings in a powerpoint. The significance of it was that it allowed me to really know my second answer and it helped me understand why it is such a valuable and true answer. I was surprised with the info that I found, especially about the link between color and the brain’s responses. It was very significant and I even plan to include it all in my final presentation. Good research takes a long time, so that in itself shows a lot of time taken to complete. It is not a fast task to find the right support and evidence for your argument, in someone else’s publication. Research took most of my 30 hours. I also interviewed nurses to get a different points of view on my answer. Lastly, putting the powerpoint took time. It was like writing an essay, choosing the right information to put in the powerpoint. I have attached also pictures of the powerpoint.

Applied

It helped me answer my essential question because it was an actual answer to my essential question that I researched; my second answer. My second answer was that a doctor can increase patient satisfaction if they treat the patient in a comfortable environment. Some examples that I found were to have the right colors, lighting, temperature, and surrounding objects in the treatment room. Also, age group plays a role in deciding the right colors, etc. These were all factors of the environment that affect patient mood and satisfaction. If the patient is in a comfortable environment. they’ll feel content with being there, and satisfied with their treatment.

Blog 15 : Independent Component 2 Approval

An Inside Look...

1. For independent component 2, I plan to complete a documentary of interviews on hospital patient's experiences. I plan to ask them questions about their time in the hospital. I will ask them how they were treated, personally wise, if their doctors were kind and comforting. I will ask what made them satisfied with their treatment and what they wish their caretakers could have done differently. I will document it all and perhaps do some further research on any answers related to my own essential question.

2. To meet the requirement of 30 hours, I will have footage documenting the experiences of the patients, as well as further research on the answers relating to my EQ. This further research will be presented as a mini essay.

3. This component will help me explore my project more in depth because I will see directly from patients, what made their care satisfying for them.

c) Completed.

d) For my independent component, I researched two of today's most common diseases, cervical cancer and type 1 diabetes. I researched all about what the diseases are, how they can be contracted, how they affect the body, and what the treatments are. I then related my research to my essential question of how a doctor can maximize a patient's satisfaction. I gathered my information from articles as well as my mentor and the phlebotomist at my mentorship. I have provided evidence of my completion of the component through an essay, which is posted here in pictures.

INTERPRETIVE
My research and essay is significant to my project because it is important to my essential question. My essential question is: what is the best way for a doctor to maximize patient satisfaction? Well, a doctor cannot satisfy their patient unless they can care for them well. And a doctor cannot care for their patient in the utmost well manner, if they do not fully understand what is wrong with the patient and what the patient is going through. Therefore, I decided to research two of the most common diseases that patients have, that doctors need to fully understand, to create satisfied patients.
I gathered a lot of research and so have presented it in an essay. It shows my 34 hours of work because there is so much research in it that I have collected over the past two months. I go very into depth with the subject.

APPLIED
The component helped me understand my topic better because I got a better sense on what a doctor must do to make sure that their patient is satisfied. This is to understand fully, all that is happening with the patient. One example of this is with one man that I met at mentorship who needed to get his blood drawn. Before Yaneli could take his blood, she asked a series of questions to the patient, to understand how well his bodily health was. After, she saw that he had diabetes. She told Dr. Bishara, who gave the patient medication for treatment. The patient was satisfied in the end because he knew he had the opportunity to get better, after all the understanding and attention the doctor had given them.

Blog 7: Independent Component 1 Approval

Independent Component 1 Approval

What I plan to do for 30 hours

I plan to research two very common diseases in California residents. These diseases will be type 1 diabetes and cervical cancer. I will research what each disease is, how people can contract it, how it affects the person's body, and what current treatment for the disease is. These diseases are affecting our men and women and it is the job of doctors and nurses to inform them of what they are going through, and help them get through it all. I am going to spend my 30 hours researching these components, and also interview my mentor and the office phlebotomist about their experiences with patients who have these diseases and how they have helped those patients. I will then write an essay in the form of a letter to a friend, on my findings.

How I will show and what I will do, to show evidence of my completing 30 hours

I will show evidence, and the results of my research component through means of an essay in the form of a letter to a friend.

How this independent component will help me explore my topic, more in depth

I believe this will help me explore my topic more in depth because my essential question is: what is the best way for a doctor to increase patient satisfaction? To satisfy a patient, the doctor needs to first understand everything that is happening inside that patient. Once they understand what the patient is going through, they will know how to better approach and help that patient. So then they will better know how to satisfy that patient. Researching two very common diseases will help me with this. Since many people are experiencing these diseases, a doctor must understand the diseases to better help and satisfy those many patients.
