This month I came up with an idea to do for senior presentation activity. Because two of my answers are a little towards the subjective side, I decided to do an activity on my second answer. My second answer is one of the best ways for a doctor to increase patient satisfaction is by treating the patient in a comfortable environment. Having the audience create the best environment for a patient is a better skill to teach than teaching them how to give reassurance and hope or connecting to a patient's culture.
Therefore I am going to have the audience create the best room for a child, teen, and adult. They will choose the colors in the room, medical equipment displayed and anything else they think should be in the room.
The audience will complete this task, most will fail, and everyone will learn. I will then present my answer and teach how to change the environment to satisfy each kind of patient.

(c) Done.
(d) Explain what you completed.
I had originally planned to do a documentary, following the stories of a couple people, their experiences at a hospital or clinic, their treatments, and what happened that made them satisfied or not with their care. I realized that this would give me too broad a range of information and decided to narrow it down. I looked at my second answer and decided to focus only on that. I researched all about how the environment affects the mood and satisfaction of a patient, as well as more in depth to the parts of the environment that cause effect. I researched and composed all of my findings into a powerpoint.
Interpretive
What I did for the component was research in depthly, my second answer, and present my findings in a powerpoint. The significance of it was that it allowed me to really know my second answer and it helped me understand why it is such a valuable and true answer. I was surprised with the info that I found, especially about the link between color and the brain’s responses. It was very significant and I even plan to include it all in my final presentation. Good research takes a long time, so that in itself shows a lot of time taken to complete. It is not a fast task to find the right support and evidence for your argument, in someone else’s publication. Research took most of my 30 hours. I also interviewed nurses to get a different points of view on my answer. Lastly, putting the powerpoint took time. It was like writing an essay, choosing the right information to put in the powerpoint. I have attached also pictures of the powerpoint.
Applied
It helped me answer my essential question because it was an actual answer to my essential question that I researched; my second answer. My second answer was that a doctor can increase patient satisfaction if they treat the patient in a comfortable environment. Some examples that I found were to have the right colors, lighting, temperature, and surrounding objects in the treatment room. Also, age group plays a role in deciding the right colors, etc. These were all factors of the environment that affect patient mood and satisfaction. If the patient is in a comfortable environment. they’ll feel content with being there, and satisfied with their treatment.

Extra Blog Post for the March Marvels
Change, change, change! It seems to be the only thing happening right now in my senior project. Recently, my Independent Component 2 has been changed. A documentary interviewing and following patients and their experiences with doctors, was not going to cut it for me. Although the prospect seemed like an interesting feat, I decided to do something that would better and more directly help me answer my essential question. More specifically, I decided that I would take advantage of the assignment and use it to research more in depth, one specific answer. For my new independent component, I have decided to research more in depth one of my answers and create a powerpoint explaining the answer. I am excited for this new feat.

Blog 17: Answer 3
1. What is the best way for a doctor to increase patient satisfaction?
2. One of the best ways for a doctor to increase patient satisfaction is to know
the patient's culture and lifestyle.
3. If the doctor knows the patient's language, they can properly treat them. ex:
sign language or Spanish communicator.
If the doctor knows the background of the patient, they can know where the
patient comes from and give back that persona or attitude. To show the patient
that they know who they are and can build relationship with them instead of the
patient feeling like just another number. AKA personal connection.
If the doctor knows the person's beliefs, they can use those to help make the
patient more comfortable.

5. To know a patient's culture and lifestyle is so important because the doctor can
create a personal connection to the patient, making the patient more comfortable
because they will feel as if they are talking to a friend. The doctor will be
able to treat the patient better because of the patient's willingness to open
up, and the patient will be satisfied.

Extra Blog Post : A February Flop
This month started out extremely well. I have decided on the three best answers to my essential question. I have also extra information on each of my answers, from research. I also believe I know which answer I will choose as my one best answer. My first two answers have already been disclosed, and my third answer will be revealed on the Friday of next week. Hold your breath. OK, you can breathe! My breath, however, was taken away when I received an email from the office manager of my mentorship at Durfee Medical. Mrs. Anne Bishara informed me that she had had a recent downsize in the office staff. For some strange reason, because of this downsize, I can no longer spend my Mondays at the clinic, shadowing Dr. Bishara. This news was a big blow to me. Not only because my mentorship there had provided me with service hours for this senior project, but also because going in on Mondays brought me joy. I had always looked forward to the new and interesting people I would see, and situations of which I would experience, from the shadows. Although, I can no longer do these things. I suppose now I will have to find a new mentor, a new place to spend my hours, with a new doctor and new patients.
